SciFinder for Engineers
Tuesday, December 6, 2011, 01:00 PM
Morgan Library, Computer Classroom 175

SciFinder Scholar, the electronic version of Chemical Abstracts, is a comprehensive chemical sciences database that covers many areas of interest to engineers including materials science, nanotechnology, ceramics, chemical engineering (of all types), and physical properties of materials.

The database indexes over 10,000 scientific journals, as well as patents from over 60 patent authorities, books, conference proceedings, and more. SciFinder provides a variety of search options that are specifically targeted towards the scientist end-user.

In addition to text-based searching, SciFinder can be searched by chemical structure, substructure, reaction, and more. A powerful substance identifier allows the user to search for substances by CAS number, name, trade name, or molecular formula.

SciFinder includes records for over 60 million substances, and each substance record includes supplementary information (predicted or experimental properties, spectral data, commercial sources, and more).

Come and learn how to integrate SciFinder into your research strategy for engineering topics.

Kristen Arienti, a Chemical Abstract Services Application Specialist, will be here to teach a one-hour session that covers SciFinder applications for engineers.
