International Connections Brown Bag Lunch Topic:  "Suicide in Sri Lanka" When:  Tuesday, Nov. 14, 12:15-1:00 p.m. Where: Lory Student Center Room 220-222 Sri Lanka has one of the highest rates of suicide in the world. Young adults between 20-30 years are particularly likely to take their own lives. Between 1930 and 1960, there was a slow but steady increase in suicide death rates but in the decades that have followed that period there has been an alarming increase in suicide rates. Dr. Lorann Stallones, from the Department of Psychology, will discuss the political, psychological and socio-cultural aspects that are likely related to the observed increases, as well as the effects of an ongoing civil war on this island-nation. This event is sponsored by International Education. For more information, please contact: Karen Gardenier International Education, Coordinator 491-5917 intled.colostate.edu. |
