Native American Artist Roundtable Discussion
Thursday, November 30, 2006, 06:00 PM

What:   Artist Roundtable discussion of their artwork displayed in the Duhesa Lounge.

When:  Immediately following the opening reception of the Duhesa Lounge’s annual Native American Exhibition on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Duhesa Lounge.

Description:  The Native American Student Association (NASA) and ASCSU will host several visiting Native American artists to speak about their artistic works. The artists will promote Native American cultural awareness at Colorado State University and the Fort Collins community while dispelling the widely-accepted myth that the only Native American artwork available is in a historical museum setting.

It is important that students understand that Native artwork is still thriving and being created. The artists will be giving a roundtable discussion to explain how their Native background and upbringing has directly and indirectly influenced themes and elements in their artwork, as well as some of the issues and concepts being communicated as artists to their communities.
